#SelfCareMonday – Tips on Self Care to start your week off right


If you’re anything like me, you probably struggle to get through a Monday. It’s hard to get back into the working week when you’ve just had the weekend to do whatever you feel free to do (unless you work weekends, then I feel your pain!). For myself, I use self care to help start the week off on the right foot!

Self care is the most important aspect of every Monday for me. It gives me something to look forward to when I wake up on a Monday morning, and something to look forward to when I finish work!


Morning Self Care

1. Sleep

You’ve probably read about sleep if you’ve searched about self care! I always, ALWAYS try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. If I don’t, I’m moody and snap at everyone and everything! It never makes for a good start to a Monday if I’m in a bad mood. So sleep is essential for me to start my day off on the right note.

2. Make your bed

You’re probably reading this thinking “What on earth does making your bed have to do with self care?”. Well let me tell you, it has EVERYTHING to do with self care. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of making my bed every morning because it helps you start the day off by accomplishing at least one task. And if you accomplish at least one task, the rest just magically seems to follow! (I’m just kidding, it’s not magic, it’s just plain and simple HARD WORK!)

3. Coffee (or Tea if you prefer!)

I always start my day with coffee! It helps perk me up a little bit to start my day off. If tea is what you prefer, go with that. If I’m feeling extra down or just feel like I didn’t start my day right, I’ll treat myself to a caramel latté to perk me up a little bit more (can’t hurt, right?)


Nightly Self Care

1. Hot shower/Bubble bath

I prefer a bubble bath over a hot shower because I can lay down and relax after a long day! Something about it just makes me feel refreshed.

2. Bed & Reading

There’s nothing quite like reading a good book and laying in bed with a hot cup of milo. It’s something I always look forward to at the end of every day. I try to keep the lighting low so I can relax easier, and it’s basically a guarantee that my cat (Angel, she’s pretty much my best friend) will come in for a cuddle which just makes my night perfect.

3. Meditation

I’ve started using an app called Pacifica. It’s $9.99 AUD per month and I am IN LOVE. My favourite meditations are the ones I listen to before I go to sleep which are ‘Relaxing Slumber’ and ‘Falling Asleep’. These meditations help me focus on my breathing and relaxation and allow me to sleep easily, which isn’t something I’ve been able to do before.
